A Smart Work Hub on NSW’s Central Coast will help reduce the number of workers who need to undergo long commutes to get to work and make the NSW workforce more efficient and productive.
Around 40,000 residents currently commute outside the Central Coast region each day for work – mainly to Sydney or the Hunter region.
The North Wyong facility allows workers to access offices, video-conferencing facilities, secure storage areas, a kitchen and meeting rooms.
The facility is co-located next to a data centre and as a result offers high-speed broadband services. It also contains nearby facilities such as child care services, a gym, food outlets and service station.
This important facility enables Central Coast employees to get their day’s work done without having to leave their local area, allowing them to spend less time on the train or road and more time with their families.
One worker who is saving more than five hours of travel per day, Roy Quigley, says the workstations, offices and conference room are great.
“The work hub is a bit of a gift to me. I’m still pinching myself.”
This project has the potential to provide a common-sense and relatively low-cost 21st century solution to help reduce the number of workers who need to undergo long commutes to get to work and make the NSW workforce more productive.
